My name is Andrea Agola and I am a Kenyan-American junior (form 3) in high school. I made this blog for my IB MYP project (International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program) in my sophomore year (form 2). For quite some time I had felt as if I wasn't writing as much as I had before high school began. Bogged down with work and extracurriculars, pausing to write down just a few of the plethora of ideas and moments that fly through my head a day, slowly fell to the bottom of my priority list. That is why I seized this opportunity of a self-curated project, to not only write but provide insight into my flavorful world. Through a medium, so widely accessible, I decided to focus on personal and cultural expression. I share creative and biographical pieces that relate to both my Kenyan and American sides. I also bring in commentaries on experiences faced by other immigrants in hopes of highlighting the various stories immigrants have to offer.
